Understanding the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC)

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is responsible for recruiting personnel into the state's public service. It is a successor to the Madras Service Commission, which came into being under an Act of the Madras Legislature in 1929.

TNPSC conducts exams for Group 1 to Group 4 services. Each group corresponds to different levels of administrative roles, with Group 1 covering the highest-ranking positions, like Deputy Collector, and Group 4 for junior level posts.
